All aspects of a student’s life in the Senior School are designed to sustain and develop their personal growth in accordance with the College’s Vision Statement.
A Closer Relationship with God
The Religious Education program in the Senior School aims to develop each individual holistically by assisting the students to acquire knowledge about the Christian faith, to deepen their understanding of what it means to live as a Christian in today’s world, and to experience the presence of God through prayer and liturgies. All Senior School students are involved in a yearly Retreat which focuses on their relationship with God and their place in both the College community and the wider community.
Close links are also maintained with our local Anglican and Catholic Parishes with students involved in parish celebrations on a number of significant occasions.
Passion for Living
Central to a student’s journey in the Senior School is the Pastoral Care Programs which are designed to not only support a student at the College but to help provide them with the skills, understanding and knowledge to continue to grow as individuals and play a role in developing our society into the future as citizens of our nation and the wider world.
The College has high expectations of all students in the Senior School with all students expected to be leaders through their actions and general demeanor. High standards of commitment to work, behavior and uniform are set with senior students expected to be role models for students in the Middle and Primary Schools. Leadership opportunities, both formal and informal, are available to all students and they are encouraged to actively pursue these.
A sense of community is fostered in all senior students as part of their preparation to be active participants in society where their knowledge and skills will help develop the future. This includes knowledge of other cultures and their role as responsible citizens.
Lifelong Love of Learning
The Curriculum in the Senior School is designed to meet the needs of all students and give them the opportunity to successfully complete their SACE. Excellence is encouraged and fostered as students are guided through their final years of schooling towards the goals they have set for themselves beyond school. A broad range of subjects are offered throughout the Senior School with modern facilities giving students every opportunity to succeed. Flexible Learning options including VET and School Based Apprenticeships are also available for students who wish to follow a less traditional path to success.
The skilful use of technology is critical in today’s society and currently all students in Years 11 and 12 take part in a Laptop Program which allows them to develop their skills and knowledge in a manner which not only suits their current needs but provides a skill base for the future. Careers support is provided by a full time Careers Counselor who provides advice on the broad range of post school options available including post school study, apprenticeships, traineeships and employment and in the Pastoral Care programs developed in the Senior School.
The ultimate success of this Vision is the transition of our students into the wider community and the pathways they access. The College Dux for 2010, Maddison Armitt, achieved an ATAR of 99.25 and her success was mirrored by five other students who achieved ATARS in the 90s. Two students also achieved Merit Awards for achieving scores of 20 in their subjects. Equally important were the student’s whose hard work was rewarded with the Tertiary Study of their choice, an apprenticeship in the trade they desired and the students who gained employment in the field of their choice.
We are very proud of our senior students, both past and present. We will follow their future endeavors with interest and look forward to the contributions they will make to society.
