The Most Reverend Ian Gordon Combe George AO (1934 - )

Named for The Most Rev Ian Gordon Combe George AO (born 1934); educated in Adelaide attaining his law degree in 1956 before studying in New York for his Master of Divinity in 1964. After time in Western Australia, Queensland and the Australian Capital Territory,  Bishop George returned to Adelaide as Archbishop from 1991 until his retirement. He has been a patron of the Arts and worked tirelessly for refugees, the homeless, alcoholic and drug dependent.

Symbol

The symbol has two major elements - the Celtic cross which symbolises the College’s link to Columba and the great Celtic saint with the phoenix beneath it, symbolising new life and growth. It is the phoenix symbol which inspires the house motto of - Rise To The Challenge.
